Plant Tips and Tricks

Check plants for common insects

The most common insects that attack plants indoors are mealy bugs, scale, and mites. Inspect the your plant's leaves regularly for these pests.

Sticky House Plant Leaves

Often, sticky leaves is caused by Scale. Scale is an insect that sucks the juices out of plants. The sticky stuff that accumulates around the plant is from insect secretion. Take a look at the undersides of the leaves for tan, black or brown bumps. Control Scale by suffocating the insect. A safe horticultural oil will do the trick.

Know the Temperature and Ventilation

When you have your plants in an office setting it is crucial to be aware of the temperature of the room in which the plant is located.  The ideal temperature for an indoor plant is between 60 and 75 degrees F. It is key to keep your plant away from hot or cold drafts, and warm appliances. It is important to have good ventilation for your plant too. If your room’s ventilation is lacking, a small fan set on low is all your plant needs.
